the fact that john likes him so much is a huge saving grace in arthur's willingness to keep giving him more chances, because he absolutely feels like jedao thinks he's completely incompetent
a lot of that is really just self-loathing about handling the situations poorly and not knowing how to handle jedao because he's so hard for arthur to get a proper read on based on voice alone
as an unrealised player he keeps getting choices and not knowing the outcome, but as he comes into his powers more he starts being able to reasonably predict what might happen
Arthur i love getting to examine his interactions with the barge and other characters through his blindness, but also all of his issues are so spectacularly deranged that he has the most interesting reactions to like so many otherwise mundane prompts. also the 1930s filter is really fun
honestly arthur just has a lot of different angles to work which keeps him constantly feeling fresh, while being good enough at compartmentalisation that he always has a very stable plateau of personality to fall back on
Hunter is just fun, navigating the differences between the demon realm and the barge, the things he's had to learn and what get taken for granted as a part of being human/in a human society, but also all of his personal issues are very fun, and he always wants to learn so he's very passionate and incredibly sincere
and then when he goes grimdark in s3 he acts like a witch of space and fucks up EVERYONE'S shit
