with the news of flowers blooming in antarctica and the native grass taking over and mutating, i need everyone to keep in mind that this doesn't JUST mean climate change is fast approaching and sea levels rising due to the melting ice isn't our only problem here. it's not JUST an indicator, like ten thousands we've had before, it'll come with dangers like

introducing new viruses and diseases to our waters. in addition to that, it means the layer of permafrost that is protecting us from million years old bacteria will also melt. this means a potential outbreak of diseases in wildlife and even humans that could kill. we don't know what this means for us yet and we are going to find out.

of course the rising sea levels will ALSO be a problem but who knows if we will even get a chance to see the slow process of that overtime or if entire parts of giant ice walls will crash into the ocean and kill us before then. not to mention we have no fucking clue how to protect ourselves from whatever that damn bacteria is

this isn't pretty to think about and i try to avoid it as well but i don't like pretending it's as simple as "this is another indicator that climate change is real" because we KNOW it is. this is not an indicator it's a direct result and it's SCARY

it's not just ice melting anymore, these flowers are a danger to the native ecosystem AND potentially the entire world. they shouldn't be growing.
