I've done that before, eons ago! If you live in an area with ample sunshine AND low humidity, it works. Unless the birds discover them. The birds discovered mine. Happily, I've had a really good dehydrator that's still going strong after 15 years. This year my bunching and walking onions went nuts, so I dehydrated them.

I've also done cinnamon apple chips, and garlic to pulverize for powder.

TODAY I am going to fill my trays with raspberries, since we are getting a couple quarts every other day and my gosh we are only two people. 130 degrees for 36-48 hours, then pulverize the dry berries, strain out the seeds and voila! Raspberry powder to put on/in all sorts of things.
