I've done that before, eons ago! If you live in an area with ample sunshine AND low humidity, it works. Unless the birds discover them. :-D The birds discovered mine. Happily, I've had a really good dehydrator that's still going strong after 15 years. This year my bunching and walking onions went nuts, so I dehydrated them.

I've also done cinnamon apple chips, and garlic to pulverize for powder.

TODAY I am going to fill my trays with raspberries, since we are getting a couple quarts every other day and my gosh we are only two people. 130 degrees for 36-48 hours, then pulverize the dry berries, strain out the seeds and voila! Raspberry powder to put on/in all sorts of things.
