Apparently a bunch of folks, including the creator, don't think that the dude in the Saw movies is a bad guy or a murderer because he never kills anyone directly.

That just reminds me of some of the conversations at writing panels I have been present at on mysteries, except the writers all realize they are awful people for trying to figure out the magical age when a child character is old enough to murder without painful backlash from the fans and so on...
