sometimes I vaguely wonder why touch typing doesn't seem to be a skill a lot of people have considering how chronically online a lot of us are

this was something that was taught to people in school at a very early age, right?

or is that just my upper middleclass upbringing talking

bc I had to do the whole militant "don't look at your hands" stuff in grade 1

but also maybe it was a more commonplace practice 25 years ago

i mean i never got taught it in school but i sure did like. learn to do it from being online all the time lmao

I remember we'd have computer class where we were taught proper finger positioning and then we played typing games with the goal of having the highest wpm with fewest errors

I learned in like third/fourth grade.

But I don't know if it's something people teach anymore.

yeah I got taught in elementary/middle school

but i also went to a bougie catholic school

they thought it in my elementary school also (it was a public school)

i got it starting in like 3rd grade, public school

maybe 2nd

taught it* even

touch typing cant help me avoid typos it seems lmao

there was a typing class in high school that I was TA in but I never actually took the class lol. Even though the teacher was like 'you sure you don't want to?' but I guess I figured my own way around keyboards somehow
