honestly, the usual stereotypes as i remember them were all about doing straightness wrong - metrosexual, weird goths who wear makeup, nerds who never get a date etc
Here's assigning a deeper reading than it probably is but doesn't that mean anyone from any stereotype can be gay? That it's not just the theater kid/loner/quiet kid that media seems to push?
if they put half the energy they do into into whining about other people Doing It Wrong as they do creating content according to their own preferences, they'd probably have quite a body of work

like buddy my first exposure to gay people in media as a child was "creepy, obsessive, and delusional side character" ... I think having four main characters who are all different brands of average human being is gonna be fine
God, yeah, when I was a kid my first encounters of gay people in media were 1) Very Special Episodes of late 70s and early 80s TV shows and...um....Three's Company, which I didn't fully get at the time because I was young and was very confused about.
Before a certain time quite recently, gays were only depicted as the childless and single uncle, Theater People, and creeps. I prefer jocks, nerds, peeps, and goths over that
