the thing you have to remember is that these chatbots being marketed as "AI" aren't made to be smart, they're made to string words together in ways similar to the banks of words they've been loaded with

and the people loading in the text are idiots

Calling them 'AI' is incredibly misleading, because they don't think about things.

They just pick up on and repeat patterns.

I have acquaintances who genuinely asked chatgpt for advice for their vacation

and they were stunned when the beach they were told about wasn't there

me and my smart friend at dinner looking at each other like 😬

I heard a rumor that they picked this bad fact up from an internet joke

"Did you know there are no countries in Africa that start with 'k?'"
"What about Kenya?"
"KENYA SUCK DEEZ NUTS"

oh my god....

"Hey chatgpt, what are DEEZ NUTS"

that wouldn't surprise me at all, considering how much is getting scrapped and dumped in without any quality control

and while having a bot that strings together internet nonsense is not in of itself a bad thing, I love the "gdq donation" bot a streamer I follow has that generates nonsense fake gdq donation messages, it is bad if the person who made it isn't being honest about what it is
