I thought about To the Moon today (no spoilers)

To the Moon is an indie adventure game/interactive story originally released in 2011

It was made with like RPGMaker and it is just incredible story telling.

Game is like 3.5 hours from start to finish and everyone should play it, it's available in many platforms

Without going into the actual storyline, the backdrop is the technology to alter memories exists, but it can only be used on people who are near death, because otherwise their actual life would contradict the person's memories. People can sign up to have their memories altered before dying so they can die feeling fulfilled.

It is Up There in the list of media that haunts me every day.

To The Moon

An animated film is theoretically in development and I can't wait to cry about it for 300 years

It's so good and I have watched a lot of people play it and cry every time.

Finding Paradise, the sequel, is also very good but not as good as To The Moon

Impostor Factory which is the third game but time-wise a prequel is also fun, though really To the Moon is the best one.

it's just such a solid game, from conception to the storyline to the way the story is told.

i just really enjoy it when storytellers tell a story with a specific medium in mind and land it flawlessly

Journey, the PS game, fucked me up massively for similar reasons, even though it is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT thing
