[Theater] So last night's rehearsal time was turned over to our production's intimacy director. We learned a number of techniques and exercises for establishing and maintaining boundaries of consent in onstage intimacy.

This is, of course, important in any theater undertaking, but especially in something like The Rocky Horror Show, where such intimacy is front and center in the subject matter. It's vital that all participants feel safe and comfortable in where and how far things go.

Believe it or not, this is the first production I've been involved in that has used a trained intimacy director. And while every show may not need a full seminar and detailed blocking of intimate scenes, it's always a good idea to ensure that people are aware of - and agree to respect - established boundaries and consent.
