Highlander The Series - All Opening Credits
man, the early openings were very... "We just got these new computers going on."
Platinum
the actors had so much fun
CJ
They really did
CJ
I fucking loved Methos so much as a kid

Shout Factory has the movie and the first season on their website. YouTube has the full series.

My whole family was into the movies from the time they came out because I come from the sort of stock that loves movies about guys with swords
Platinum
ahaha
𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖊𝖗!
I was also raised on Conan (Arnold Edition)
Platinum
fun fact
Platinum
the reason my mom saw star wars in theaters was because she was tired of seeing Rocky with her boyfriend and she heard Star Wars had swords in it
𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖊𝖗!
The series is also on... maybe Tubi, maybe the Roku Network, maybe Freevee. Maybe more than one of those.
𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖊𝖗!
Ahahahaha
𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖊𝖗!
this is why I'm like, look, politically and morally, I recognize why modern D&D is better
𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖊𝖗!
But also, I crave the trashy sword and sorcery vibes that I'm not getting from it
𝐴𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑡
goddd I remember watching highlander when I was WAY too young to be watching it lmao but it was formative
𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖊𝖗!
it's because I lived on a diet of Conan and Krull and Highlander and the D&D cartoon and Thundarr as a kid.
Platinum
I was not old enough to be watching highlander, ahaha
Platinum
And, yeah, old D&D was... real questionable in some spots
Platinum
But it had a totally different tone that modern D&D just fails to deliver.
Platinum
and that's the 70s~90s fantasy vibes
Platinum
pulp, but on film.

What was really cool is if you know someone who played from this or slightly later stuff, their character sheet art was often as good as the book art
𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖊𝖗!
My uncle played D&D in the early 80s. He was in his early 20s. That art from the white box is about commensurate with what he and his friends were doing.
Platinum
D&D's too fond of its art now. 5E books would be half the length they are now if every other page wasn't half-filled with artwork.
Platinum
Which is an odd complaint to make, I know
Platinum
But it's just sacrificing content and layout for aesthetics.
Platinum
you could make this cheaper, wizards
𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖊𝖗!
I mean... you're not wrong. Some canon art looked just like my last wizard, but at the same time, she was just kind of there on a random ~vibes~ page in the middle of the book
𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖕𝖊𝖗!
In the color version, she's a blue-haired moon elf. (Or silvery? One of those.) https://images.plurk.com/2UL2IJL13XiY7OczfccwA1.jpg
