the other main property management company in this city has decided to completely ghost us after we asked some basic questions like "how does 809+25+18 come to more than 900" so we have an appointment to see the basement unit of someone's house tomorrow (these are very commonly rented as apartments by the person who owns and lives in the house)
it looks amazing, it has A DISHWASHER AND FREE LAUNDRY (shared with upstairs), it is 750 a month, and it's available on the first so everyone pray for us that we can get it
we are really really hoping to find a place for september 1 so we don't have to worry about where to go with the cats; we are 100% aware that finding a place in one week is extremely unrealistic lmao
this is why no one has seen a tag from me in over a week, i'm feeling motivated this morning so we're gonna see if i can tag bomb the whole thing but yeah there's just been no bandwidth for anything but moving and schoolwork
it was very funny when we moved into this current apartment, actually, because my husband had never had to move his own shit before? his family had always had movers
the first time my partner and I moved together, I packed up most of our belongings. I was working the day of our move and I told him where everything had been left. He and his BFF help load the stuff into the van we'd booked blah blah blah, he sends me a photo chuffed to bits when things have been unloaded into the new place
he was just like "yeah, it seemed strange we had such a big van for such a small amount of stuff" like ?!?!?! BABE WE HAVE BELONGINGS, NOT THREE SUITCASES AND A SOFA
yeah, my father-in-law got the truck for friday so my goal is that he will only be moving furniture with it. today i need to eat, take my meds, do the tag bomb, unload my car, go to the apartment, and see if i can carry the two bins that were too heavy yesterday (now that i'm not attempting it after a couple hours of packing and carrying lol)
my hope is that this basement lady is chill and says "yes you really can move in september 1, i'm glad to rent asap, and yes three cats is not a problem"
we saw the basement place today, there was a LOT of people seeing it, we saw at least three other applicants/applicant groups, but i think we've got a shot? we talked with the lady about why we need to move quickly and how excited we are to work with a landlord who's not a giant management company
we're seeing another place on saturday that's with a management company, but a smaller one with better reviews than the two main low-end ones in the city so we've got a backup
there's only maybe a few boxes' worth of stuff left in the apartment aside from furniture so i mostly made my goal of FIL only having to move furniture. aspirationally i will reorganize the Items currently in the garage to make as much space as possible lol
