I'm honestly surprised I hadn't gotten Sherlock Holmes banned from my Elementary school Library due to their stupid reading age policy.

So my elementary school library for some reason decided students checking out books above their reading level was somehow A Problem to Be Solved

If your kids are smart isn't that good?

Isn't that what schools are FOR?

and they decide the solution is to force every student who checks out a book to read a passage out loud - which I note isn't always a good indicator of reading level.

The Librarian (the same one every week) didn't believe I was actually reading the Sherlock Holmes Omnibus I kept checking out (as it's an omnibus so big)

and would point to a random passage, and I'm surprised she never ended up pointing to one where Watson Ejaculates at something Holmes said.

(as the book really only had side-bars to explain Victoriana specifics but didn't edit the actual text at all)

But yeah! Some idiot thought they had to restrict the books being checked out

...wow, they would have hated me reading Moby Dick in 5th grade...
