Okay I wanna give everyone a taste of the sense of humor in Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew

It's a stealth/strategy game about a cursed pirate crew trying to solve an ancient riddle while avoiding the notice of the Inquisition

Inbetween levels, you can wander around on your cursed pirate ship

and do like little side quests for the characters

I've started exactly one of them so far

Which is about the ship's cook/ninja

(literally he is from Japan)

So I start the side quest and it switches POV to Towa (the cook)

Towa's like "I'm gonna check on that fish I caught. It should have absorbed enough curse energy now that even skeletons can eat it."

He goes up to the fish, which is hanging from a hook on the deck
Master Chieve
and the fish is like "MASTER"
Master Chieve
"I HAVE FOUND YOU"
Master Chieve
Towa: "W-what?"
Master Chieve
Fish: "I LONG TO BE THE STUDENT OF THE FAMOUS ASSASSIN TOWA OF THE IGA CLAN AND TO LEARN THE WAYS OF THE NINJA"
Master Chieve
Towa isn't wild about eating something that can talk
Master Chieve
So he's like "Um. Okay, uh."
Master Chieve
"If you can...steal a pistol from the captain's quarters, I will teach you to be a ninja"
Master Chieve
Keep in mind, he's talking to a dead fish hanging from a hook
Master Chieve
The fish is like "I WILL NOT DISAPPOINT YOU MASTER"
Master Chieve
And that's the end of that for now

I go out to do a level

I come back

Towa checks on the fish
Master Chieve
"How'd it go? Don't worry if you can't do it I under-"

Fish: "I HAVE OBTAINED THE PISTOL"
Master Chieve
Towa: "holy shit"
Master Chieve
Fish: "THAT MEANS I AM YOUR STUDENT NOW RIGHT?"

Towa: "I...guess I gave my word..."
Master Chieve
So now Towa is teaching the fish to be a ninja

I still have not seen the fish move
Master Chieve
I think this game might be incredible

Shadow Gambit ALSO has the Isle of Penance

which is where the Inquisition takes the souls of those who died in prison before their sentence was finished

So that they can FINISH THEIR PRISON SENTENCE AFTER DEATH

Some of the souls have been there for over a century

She has a magic crossbow bolt that can instantly kill anyone she has line of sight with

So every time you use it she has to physically get to whoever she shot to get it back

So you can't just have her hang back and pick guys off she actually has to risk getting into the middle of things

You start out with just Afia (the black lady in the screen shot above) but as you collect pearls and soul power you can ressurrect the rest of the crew one by one so you gotta choose who you get

the two on the right are ordinary goons and can be distracted easily, but the other four are more disciplined and can't be lured away from their stations

they're basically constantly looking at each other like so:

So I have to kill them in pairs, or they'll sound an alarm

The prognosticar will counter any attempt to kill him by psychically grabbing the guy who tried to kill him

Then I have a short window to have someone ELSE kill the prognosticar or he'll finish off the guy he caught
