see the thing about that is that technically there will still be a block system so just saying that it's a violation isn't something I agree with. In spirit it's a violation for sure! but in letter? that's one they'll have a fight over.
i bet what it actually is, is a while back they "limited" people who blocked a lot of people, as if you'd broken some kind of actual rule isntead of just were curating your twitter, and he's still mad we can block ads and people who harass us
Realistically though what will happen is the block button will be removed from tweets and profiles, but blocked users will remain blocked, because trying to change that part of the site infrastructure is too difficult for the number of devs they actually have left.
how bout hohono
: block abusive users ... yeah they will do. They will tell you to report those people and if there's enough reports, THEY will block them, maybe.
i do find it very amusing that the check mark was so universally hated he started forcing it on people in an attempt to get people to stop blocking blue checkmarks
I tried to look at Twitter accounts relevant to storm preparation for Hurricane/TS Hilary and ... how does anyone use Twitter now? please tell me that if logged in you at least see someone's account page tweets IN ORDERand not the hodge podge I was seeing when looking today?
lol I did not count them. I just was like WTF this tweet shows on Google News for TODAY why am I seeing 2020 and 2018 as if these are the latest? and hit back
Pen Again
: You're correct that it's not chronological. I don't think you even see all their tweets if logged out, just the most popular. I checked a game's news page w/o realizing I was logged out and the last post showing was from October despite the fact that they post daily.
well, it looks like this was made in 2021. since this is relying on async stuff, it probably doesn't work on twitter at all anymore since the muskrat tried to "remove bots" or whatever by constantly ddos'ing his own site that one time. if this is working on other browsers or has worked for you recently, though-
oh, shoot, i know i saw it recommended somewhere that was posted recently - that's why i was trying it - but maybe it was something that was just change or something? and i'm not sure where the rec was now. i've been googling and looking at recs like mad
but in the meantime, for non-account-holders, nitter dot net is working again for now. if you replace the twitter dot com with nitter dot net in links, you can read profiles chronologically and whole threads instead of a single tweet
it's honestly a problem, Twitter became such an important part of our world in many ways whether you like it or not. And one guy with a complex and more money than sense is just destroying that so casually
yup...I have my local NWS official site bookmarked, but it doesn't have the feed of warnings so I can see if they're approaching or going away from my town like Twitter did
one of the ways humans get better and become greater is by learning about each other more, if people want to keep us stupid docile little sheep first they have to take away our means of talking to each other
On one hand, I don't believe in that theory because it would involve tanking your own reputation, due to other rich people not being happy about you falsifying a bid for Twitter, trying to take it back, buying it, and then tanking a company less out of malice and more out of stupidity.
Don Mattrick, after burning the Xbox brand to the ground back in the day, quit to Zinga, and then quit entirely and vanished off the grid. That's how many bridges the guy burnt.
But, on the other, there are cases of golden parachutes, and "favors" given and granted, alongside forgiveness. I think it greatly depends on how big are the bridges to destroy Twitter... and how much credit are we giving these people, when in that they are are just dumb.
There are too many cases in which, after a new boss takes over, said new boss is incredibly unaware of how the machine and system is supposed to work, so when he tries changing stuff he thinks is useless, he only breaks it. Chester's Fence at its core.
he wants to make twitter more rightwing, he also has ideas on how to make more of a profit which are very dumb ideas, and it might be that he's also come to the point that he gets so much criticism and blowback that he'd rather nuke the sight than backtrack on anything
i'm not sure if he wanted to destroy it from the start, i think rather he thought he could "improve it" in a rightwing direction. but i think by now he doesn't mind if it all goes down.
just so people don't think I was kidding about apple and googleplay requirements
