I'm experimenting with my mostly untouched art supplies. The sketch was... kinda messed up to begin with but I went with it anyway. And is it gonna be a fav? No. But it is fun and really useful learning experience!
The sketch. If it had been on regular sketch paper instead of mixed media paper or if I hadn't specifically been planning to experiment I prolly woulda thrown it out. But because all those variables were what they were. It lived!
What I did yesterday. Tossing watercolor, some gauche to fix mistakes and then my oil colored pencils on top (I can't wait to use them, they blend smoothly with way less pressure than my wax pencils) the high contrast really showed the flaws in the sketch, but STILL I wouldn't have been near as brave if I loved the sketch!
Where I am today. Some sketch issues were fixed with a dark outline. Also added a wet on wet bg. I was gonna leave it before. But now I think I wanna experiment with scars. I think I may be able to use the way water based paint slides away from colored pencils to form an interesting scar texture. I may fail, and that's okay!
