Today, on Rafa is an absolute moron, I bought an SD card reader... That turns out to not connect to USB ports, meaning it's useless for what I need it for.

like, it's not terribly out of date or anything, but yeah, my PC is probably on its last legs. At least the motherboard.

I tried messing around with bios to see if it fixed my issue with the external hard drives, but it didn't, so...

so I just need to grow the courage to ask my dad to help me buy a new one. (:

It could be that the usb connector ports are gone, hence the externals not connecting.

The thing is, the USB ports work fine with almost anything else, keyboard and mouse, webcam, game controller... it's just trying to have more than one external hard drive that has issues

Yeah so external drives need a certain amount of power, and it sounds like the PC isn't filtering it through to them most likely

It used to be able to handle 4 externals, too. But yeah, I need to start backing up my stuff and talk to my dad

no, they're all USB

They aren’t as common these days but, maybe if you got a hard drive that had external power, it wouldn’t need to rely on the power from the computer
