Etiquette is largely disappearing everywhere. It's so sad.

I call people out loud when they do that shit. First time or two, it's a whisper, after that, I loudly say shut that off. I refuse to spend good money and have distractions. I am probably putting my life on the line but some things are sacred to me.

This is one of the reasons why I can't go to theaters. I NEED to be able to have my phone available because I get massive anxiety not being accessible to my mom (It's a problem, I know this.) Also with my ADHD, I can't concentrate on just one movie without having something else I can do with my hands, and my phone is the easiest thing I have.

But I don't want to be rude to others, so I just stay home. lol I can watch movies on streaming services.
OhCecilia
Alicia ✿ : I appreciate you being so considerate! I'm sure there's also spots you can sit in that make it less distracting. Like sitting in the back row or something (if you wanted to of course)

I have quit going to movies because I am too easily-distracted by random outbursts to spend the kind of money they're charging for the potential irritation

The only movie i have seen this year is "Sound of Freedom" (twice), and it was not a problem, but that is an intense show.

I hated it when I paid good money to see a movie and someone had their phone out near me. I have not been back to a theater since Covid hit, not sure that I will go back at this point.

I haven’t been to a theatre since before covid. I would like to go see a movie in a theater, but haven’t had one yet that I want to spend that kind of money on. To have someone with their phone out during the movie it’s rude and it would piss me off. If I was in the wrong mood at the time I might just grab their phone and throw it out of the theater.

We haven't been to a walk in since before Covid as well. We probably won't go for various reasons. However, there is still a drive-in theater near us we have been to before, and we enjoyed going to the drive-in, so we may do it again before summer is over.

Drive-ins were great. Our last one closed down, sadly, but two of the local communities put up those big inflatable screens and show movies in the park at sunset

There are still a few drive in theaters around here but I have yet to find a movie I want to shell out big money for.

I have never seen inflatable screens before, that is pretty neat.

ChefKarl : Same here.
Swamp Daddy
We have one drive in left here. I haven’t been to it in a couple decades.

I go to matinees with discount passes or not at all. Plus I never go when it’s new. By the time I get there there’s usually only about 5-10 people in the theater so it’s pretty much ok. Plus there’s a number you can text if people are not behaving and the staff will come in.

Plus I’ve been to more movies this year then the whole time I’ve lived here! LOL

FREEarmStar🌟🎉 : Oh i never heard of that. a number you can text. thats clever.
