after giving up on Light, he choses Gravity as a new theme

and his first power is the ability to create a temporary gravitational field in an area that's as strong as local gravity, effectively doubling it

this isn't THAT useful on its own, because stronger opponents can still fight in high gravity

but he has an extra trick for it

which is that it doesn't have to face down

so, for example, at the moment someone springs off the ground for a jumping attack

he flips the field upside down, negating local gravity

and they just. fly away

away you go

I just find all of his stuff between ruining his first attempt to reorienting it and finding a new theme to be really good writing. You can see how it was supposed to work, then why it didn't, and then how it perfectly adapts to his new attempt while building off of his ruined first one.

I like Fiyu a lot

with the insight you get into her cultural background you see moments where she like

lightly taps someone on the arm with one finger, held out at arm's length

and go "holy shit"

"that was the Ichili equivalent of a ten minute cuddling session"

a ton of quiet worldbuilding as Fiyu refers to Theo as his 'relative name'

Ichili probably have an alias they use with strangers and another name they only use with family

I'm led to believe there's something kind of similar in Thailand
