: gambling dice for gamblers. That face is the icon of the Gambler. A dude with two mouths and twelve fingers. Originally a scrawny dude in the core game that didn’t do a ton. Now is a super buff dude that looks like Atlas holding the world. Will show later
Another box inside the box inside the box inside the box inside the box. If this thing has a box in it I’m gonna scream. It says “Settlement” on the front.
also i did just have a thought about. so some people do divination things using cards that are not intended for that, in the original spirit of tarot (I know there's at least one professional YGO reader out there). And for a minute i thought about that using these games.
and then my brain crossed that with DWRP and proposed a better system for the dice rolls mods sometimes do behind the scenes for stuff, which is just yelling CEETEE DRAW ME A HORROR on discord to make decisions fdjkhdfgs
LMAO. Not sure what deck would be best for that. Probably Strange Resources? Same card back but a mix of stuff from all the monsters. Disorders could be another okay one for that but this expansion scraps the disorder system.
Mostly just “Using Philosophy rules in the existing campaigns” the white speaker one is a nice variant to the Twilight Knight in Training. Would be fun to do a campaign that does both maybe.
So I read through the entire rulebook/storybook, and have since slept on it. The story is neat. Very meta and 4th wall breaking, which caught me by surprise. I don’t know WHY it caught me by surprise. It’s a settlement centered around the settings god of games, of course it’s gonna be meta.
Rough story, as best as I can figure is that a monster finds a massive box, with sleeping survivors in it. Tries to eat them, but they kill it, and form a new settlement which the Gambler finds and tries to nurture. It progresses as normal, guided by the Gamblers influence.
The Hand gets involved and starts playing a game of what MIGHT be Kingdom Death with the Gambler. An omniscient god and a god of gaming and cheating going up against each other. Good times.
Eventually the Gambler begins preparations for whatever his endgame is. Has the survivors build a massive game box and puts some survivors inside before punting it into the darkness to be found later by a monster, continuing the cycle of propagation the Gambler has created for some reason.
Gambler challenges you to a final fight, if you fail destroys the settlement, having deemed this one a failure. If you succeed he is satisfied and happily leaves the settlement on its, which means they now have to defend themselves against the Hand, who sees a group of survivors breaking out of the narrative of the game and goes “Oh ABSOLUTELY not”
As best as I can figure, that’s how the plot roughly goes. There are some bits of the story I absolutely cannot connect yet, but that’s going to need its own thread.
Unboxing thread for a chonky boi!
Outer box successfully destroyed and repurposed as cat distraction
THE MONOLITH HAS BEEN FREED FROM ITS BINDINGS.
