At the theater for Barbie and the ads just played the same trailer they did at the start. ????

Oh, this Wonka movie looks dire. (20 minutes of ads and counting...)

Well, that was cute, if very lightweight. Definitely should have been weirder.

Also, there was a disturbing lack of Barbies with plastic rapiers and battle-hardened stares.

I guess this new one is supposed to be backstory, but the dewy-eyed lad they have playing this version looks all... earnest and sane and not even a little bit fey. This is not believably someone who would run a candy factory that punishes naughty children for deadly sins. Give it up, Hollywood! You can't do better than Gene Wilder!
