like the things i'm seeing here either i already super want to try, or i don't know much about but they're next to things i want to try so i know your taste is good probably
Orc adventurer retires to open a coffeeshop, in a world where coffee is a gnomish thing that nobody really knows. The main draw is building up a business in a fantasy world, trying to unlearn being an adventurer and learning to run a business, while making friends and getting employees with a colorful cast of characters.
Winter Duke also v good though, about a fantasy kingdom (....dukedom?) where the fight for the throne is literally cutthroat, family's got like 12 kids and they will literally murder each other to get a better position for the throne. Main character is the middlest child who is the only one who wants NOTHING to do with that nonsense,
wants to get out and be a scholar or something. But then one day her entire family falls into a magical slumber, and all of the various factions are CONVINCED she did it because that now places her square on the throne.
She never payed any attention to politics because she focused on getting out, and suddenly she's thrust into the main seat of political power, surrounded by people with their own agendas who are convinced she's the kind of person to magically take out her entire family for her own power. Oops,,,
...and then two days after I did so, news of the COVID-19 pandemic hit the US, so I was too nervous about human interaction to go back and return it for almost a full year.
but it STILL MAKES ME HAPPY
