IDK nothing much to say. Bucky snagged a catboy, accidentally ignited the powder keg that his family had turned into with all the secret keeping (KINDA AHEAD OF SCHEDULE), and is about to embark on trying to Not Be Everyone's Dad
which is something because Bucky actually really does enjoy the caretaker role, but study of his character has made it clear that it's maybe NOT the most emotionally healthy for him (this is a lie, I've always know that aspect of him had some unhealthy as fuck elements to it lol)
i didn't have it quite in the words it's finally in HERE, but yeah, evidence suggests poor Bucky has never been his own first priority, and now he's built up this actual family unit that can recognize that shit and go "hey, stop that" and he's like "but...my emotional crutches"
Honestly, didn't see Sherlock coming, and that's hysterical, because (you can ask Sora and Owl), I complain a lot that I want to do storylines with Bucky trying his hand at dating but the fucker never actually shows interest in people
I have chat logs from like April of me going "I feel like me and Sherlock's player are desperately trying to pretend our characters don't have chemistry" lol
But yeah, Bucky's deciding to step away from ANY application of his combat skills, completely divorce himself of that aspect of himself, and start trying to figure out a life that isn't just chasing after smaller folks and beating the shit out of anyone who looks sideways at them
So far as playing a second character, ehhhhh, I've considered it? But I also have to admit I'm not nearly as active as a lot of folks are and Bucky tends to take most of my focus
One character I would have loved to pick up is Cole, from Dragon Age, because my spooky ghost son is always near and dear to me, but...he just isn't gonna work in Ryslig
The thing with Cole is that his psychic powers inform a shitload of his character, and without them, he'd become something so entirely different as to not really even be HIM anymore
I have played him in a game where his character development gradually led him to a point where he chose to give his powers up and become a Normal Boy, but that was a years-long process (gamewise, in the game it was like a month lol), but just stripping them out of him and dropping him off would kinda destroy him
Lately I've also pondered Lifeweaver from Overwatch, who is the most flamboyant fuck you've ever met and would be the most absolutely fucking opposite of Bucky ever, but I just don't think the muse is quite strong yet
He'd be fun, don't get me wrong, this fucking seven foot tree hugger who giggles and does flowers in his hair before trying to OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT
I've also, admission time, strongly considered playing an OC of mine, Caryl Yumi, from a whole ass story I'm trying desperately to wrangle into Actual Writing
TL;DR, a world where X-Men, but less secret mutant militaries and more "well, this shit is going on, let's open some schools for these kids to still grow up and if they have marketable abilities we can offer job training and whatnot"
Caryl's name is actually Chiyo Yumi and she's a first generation mutant, but the thing is that first generation mutants are supposed to have weak abilities like mild psychic senses or slightly enhanced bodies, and she shot straight out of the gate as a full on pyrokinetic
and more details and character beats and such but basically imagine Wednesday Addams, toned down with just enough dashes of Want To Be A Norma Girl to make it interesting
I have chat logs from about the same time where I'm like "oh god I think there could be something with Bucky but I don't think the player's into it and I dont want to ship push, I'll just, play what he always does which is ignore and repress without even realizing, it's all good, I'm having fun regardless"
both high maintenance and demanding independence, sometimes Simply Too Mean, and there's a coping mechanism with a mind of its own in there, and that's once you get past the denial and belief he doesn't Catch Feelings
it takes someone with the patience of a saint to field that. and Bucky has the advantage of reacting in a way that immediately makes Sherlock realize "I've been too mean" when he is too mean
it's working?? the scolded-a-puppy feeling is working???? he doesn't want Bucky to be sad because of him and that means making an effort instead of just coasting along on arrogant self assurance that he is smart enough to be worth the air he takes up
I have chat logs from like April of me going "I feel like me and Sherlock's player are desperately trying to pretend our characters don't have chemistry" lolenjoy this peek into the brain of worldbuilding where it's "I want this to happen and I'll figure out how later"
