[work] one thing I like about this company is actually getting to touch base with my direct management every month and getting real feedback. as opposed to prior company where it was once a year and it was generally "I can trust you to do your work, so I have more time to babysit the rest of the team". don't miss that at all

haven't had a bad review yet and this time around I was getting thanked for being so on top of things that I bring the team's numbers up. feels good to get noticed, especially when home is stressful and in the back of my mind I wonder if it shows in my work (apparently not!)

June had a big jump in the amount of work, which I definitely felt but it still felt plenty manageable

I was expecting it to be even higher volume this month and through the rest of peak but apparently they're expecting it to be about the same as June, and they don't want to see us individually having a ton more so if we have crazy days management is going to jump in to help keep everyone from being overwhelmed

(also a big difference from prior company where it was "yeah this sucks but deal with it, you're just going to have to work 10-12 hrs for a couple months")

so maybe this summer won't actually be horrible work-wise?

that'd be nice, to have a year without burnout

obviously time will tell, but it's nice to feel optimistic

it still feels weird to actually get praise but at least I'm finally at the point where I don't immediately brush it off and assume it's a fluke

I kinda joked about "gee I hope my numbers don't go down this month" and my supervisor (he and my manager are alternating reviews this month due to workload) immediately was all "nah I don't see that happening at all. your work is always on point" ☺️
