I very rarely read webtoons (I do read webcomics, but not... like, random comics on an aggregated collection site) but I was curious about one and discovered the site's gimmick is making you stop reading after a certain number of chapters unless you pay/wait X amount of time?

I am not paying to read one comic uninterrupted so I guess I'll check back in a few hours, and if it's still limited then I'm just not invested enough, sorry. What a place the internet is these days.

Yeah this let me read SIX out of what turns out to be FORTY FOUR chapters before it paywalled me.

Do they really think that someone's going to be so hooked after six chapters that they're going to shell out????

Update: I checked, and to unlock just this comic in full, I'd need to spend 11 USD

If I wanted a ~membership~ it'd be 12 bucks a month, or ten bucks a month, paid every three months. No????

Note that they fish for clicks through promoted Twitter ads--they are NOT getting people who are coming to them for series they're already committed to?!
