I don't remember the comic being cyberpunky futuristic, but I also haven't read it since it was first published (like actual book, I missed it when it was serial online)

it did! The original production co got bought out by Disney but then Netflix bought the rights to Nimona alone!

(at least that's the simplified version that I heard)
