Anyone else noticed their parents over the last few years be more and more influenced by "youtube news" so to speak?

My dad is a really level headed kind and generally very progressive guy; I know I could come out as trans to him (I will eventually) and he would accept me even if he didn't fully understand it

And yet
Ⴆαɾ∂iς iηѕρσ
The youtube algorithm targets him SO hard with right wing yt shorts. Shit like clips from the Joe Rogan podcast
Ⴆαɾ∂iς iηѕρσ
And he buys into it

I think something about how personal these clips seem , how it's targeted, I don't know- it's just like the perfect storm to get him swayed that oh, maybe they're making some points
Ⴆαɾ∂iς iηѕρσ
Until me or one of my sisters sit down and argue with him about it until he either goes "oh okay I was wrong" orrrrr, makes it clear were just gonna have different opinions on this
Ⴆαɾ∂iς iηѕρσ
I just think it's very interesting. He had NONE of these viewpoints even under consideration until he started being on yt more frequently
Ⴆαɾ∂iς iηѕρσ
It's such a fucking right wing gross rabbit hole
REAL BALL RUN
it's VERY easy to get radicalized by the youtube algorithm it's insane
Ⴆαɾ∂iς iηѕρσ
For real!!!
de borel
Yeah absolutely my parents have gotten suckered in by the FB rabbit hole

My dad is a very smart guy but says shit like "Jordan Peterson is so intelligent I cannot even contend" and I'm like lol, lmao
de borel
The right is unfortunately very good at radicalizing bc they always start with a small opinion that most people can agree to and then build on it
Ⴆαɾ∂iς iηѕρσ
Ahhhhh that's so true yuck it's so sinister
