[Chained Echoes] I think this game is becoming to me what WEP is to Claire because the thing that drives me crazy about it is that it was almost so good. SO close to being good. and then as soon as the first act was over the entire game became a wet fart

honestly i can't even care enough about this game anymore to get this brainrot
some things can do that to me but the sheer absolute wet far this game became just

i am a little upset i paid money for it tbh
it's just bad

I want to replay the first act honestly! it was a perfectly polished well executed experience. the combat system was great, the areas felt nice and populated, the art was beautiful, the story was pretty standard fare but the characters popped nicely... BUT THEN

but then

the entire script falls apart. all the new party members are kinda irritating. the game shoves in three new entirely unnecessary subsystems that are all shallow and janky. god the sky armors were so close to being fun but the system just did not work well everything just starts feeling so EMPTY.

the only reason I stuck with it was sienna tbh she remained phenomenal because her only connection to the kinda shitty wider plot was her wife

I almost got this game despite not really liking RPGs just because everyone was singing it's praises

And then everyone just kinda

stopped talking about it

I guess this is why

the first 20 or so hours are a really, REALLY solid classic turn based rpg

like if you wrapped up the story in act 1 and sold it as a $14.99 short rpg on steam then yeah it would own!

and then the rest of the game's acts have half the effort and polish, combined, compared to the first

baffling. infuriating.

it was a clear love letter and testament of the creator's passion for the genre. he loved jrpgs. he made an rpg.

he had all the love and passion and none of the experience or skill.

the big slap to the face that made me genuinely regret spending any money and ALL THE HOURS i spent on it
