BWAAAAAH!
[Fantasy thoughts] so two books are on my mind: Legends of the First Empire and The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents
BWAAAAAH!
(Legends of the first empire is a series but work with me here)
BWAAAAAH!
The Amazing Maurice is about a cat that accidentally ate some magic that let him learn to talk and think as well as a human
BWAAAAAH!
And also some rats that had the same thing happen
BWAAAAAH!
Talking rats and cats
Doge-lover Joja
any hats?
BWAAAAAH!
I’m spoiling both so don’t read on if you haven’t and want to
BWAAAAAH!
But
BWAAAAAH!
Part of the story of Maurice is that the rats want to live with humans as equals
BWAAAAAH!
Because they can talk and think
BWAAAAAH!
And they don’t want the humans to keep on setting traps and poison
BWAAAAAH!
They want to end the war between rats and humans, which is how they think of it
BWAAAAAH!
But first they gotta get humans to see them as people instead of vermin
BWAAAAAH!
The core plot of First Empire
BWAAAAAH!
Is that elves rule the world because they’re the only ones who can use magic
BWAAAAAH!
And, because of that, they have the concept of magic intertwined with being A Person
BWAAAAAH!
So humans aren’t people they’re just clever animals
BWAAAAAH!
That sometimes mimic their betters
BWAAAAAH!
And resisting the rule of the elves is comically impossible until the humans finally produce a wizard of their own
BWAAAAAH!
And take that as a sign to have a bloody slave uprising against the elves
BWAAAAAH!
And what I’m saying is
BWAAAAAH!
Both stories have the same plot
BWAAAAAH!
Just with humans on opposite sides of the power balance
Echo
...Huh, that's a good point.
