that sounds like a shitpost but it's not, cornwall and devon have Serious Arguments about the correct way to apply jam and cream to a scone (which, as my mum point out, is ironic bc a real cornish cream tea shouldn't even have scones)
(for county durham we hate yorkshire but it's very one-sided because part of the reason we hate yorkshire is that they keep forgetting county durham exists)
for the record also the reason a cornish cream tea shouldn't have scones is that up until the mid 20th century a cornish cream tea had splits instead (which are basically a sort of bread roll which you cut down the middle and fill with cream and jam, i have never had one but my mum, who holidayed in Cornwall a lot in the 60s, speaks highly of them)
?? why is google celebrating scones today...
one's cornish and one's from devon
