Hey, anyone know good, cheap ways to get a laptop or places that do payment plans? /knocks wood. Mine is about 8 years old...

🚂Trainrot🚃
You could probably do something with Affirm or Progressive Leasing?

🚂Trainrot🚃
I've used both before and they divide the payments over 12 months

🚂Trainrot🚃
Progressive iirc has a pay off in 3 months for 0 interest option, and Affirm you can pay off early and save on interest also

🚂Trainrot🚃
you check through them if they have companies in your area they work with. Like I used progressive for Best Buy before

PrincessBatty
screw links I guess, newegg dot com

PrincessBatty
I'm not telling.

PrincessBatty
I've used them for years and they have done right by me, biuld your own stuff or buy preassembled, either way. many offer installment opayments

PrincessBatty
I've always been happy with them personally.

Wayward Haze
I haven't used New Egg in a hot minute but I was happy with the external HD parts I got from them

Wayward Haze
I didn't realize they did installments, thank you!

: Thanks! Last time I bought a laptop myself I did a payment plan through Best Buy ... that was Jarvis. A former friend broke him and bought what I have now as a replacement back in like, 2016

Swappa is a great place to get a used laptop

Kᴀʏʟᴀ
I have historically found that the people who sell their items on there tend to take very good care of them, I got a surface laptop from there for much cheaper than new and it lasted for quite awhile (I only really replaced it a few years back bc I wanted a desktop)

seconding newegg!

Kᴀʏʟᴀ
Newegg also v good

Wayward Haze
Thanks, all! I'm about to be super super about the commissions, between this and not having any sick time to cover being out on Tuesday ...

Wayward Haze
I'd apologize in advance but I'm trying to do less negative self talk, and I think maybe that counts? Help.

BRUNO PLS
maybe a local computer repair place that sells refurbs?

triska
also just here to plug that small desktop pcs are both cheap and easy to do if that's something you're interested in but of course i understand they're not As portable

triska
i have a 60% bluetooth mechanical keyboard that i can connect to my phone or tablet when i'm writing tags on the go

BRUNO PLS
I saw the words 'mechanical keyboard' and nearly threw my phone

BRUNO PLS
I had a housemate who had one of those Rattlemax 5000s and literally bought her a new one that was quieter because nobody wants the Incredible Misophoniac Hulk

BRUNO PLS
We now return you to your plurk programme already in progress

triska
oh man i can assure you: mechanical keyboards Do Not need to sound like that

triska
the whole point of mechanical keyboards is they are customizable. different types of switches, casing, and sound dampening material can make them totally silent if you wanted.

triska
blue (clicky) switches are noisy and annoying, the switches i like are tactiles and are slightly louder than average but my favorite board sounds like raindrops on a vinyl umbrella

BRUNO PLS
oh, see, that sounds nice! c:

BRUNO PLS
I would like that

triska
yeah!! you can make it sound very pleasant, i cannot stand clicky switches and i would NEVER subject a roommate to that. my god

Wayward Haze
Ooo. Yeah, I'm not normally opposed to desktops but ... my workspace is.
