As I begrudgingly accept that Spider-Books unrelated to Peter (or Ben) seem to be and have been mostly good for a bit

(Though I also take some issue with their rather directionless use of Gwen, Silk vanishing off the map until very recent and other things)

Reading Cates’ Venom run.

And once I finish issue 12 immediately run into the biggest problem of modern comics

Was reading the first omnibus and as I open the second it’s skipped ahead numerous issues because the next three were part of an event, while there’s ANOTHER event smack in the middle of this.
Ken
Sigh. Well, this is why I sucked it up and got Marvel Unlimited for a bit I guess.
boop snoot riot
trying to figure out what event popped up around then... seems a little early for that era's Adjective Carnage
boop snoot riot
tbh I don't think anyone would judge you for popping over to readcomiconline to catch up on some stray issues for crossover events while catching up >>

OH War of the Realms, that's right.
Ken
Yeah I figured it out, I don’t tend to have issue figuring that stuff out, but it’s a reminder of why people have trouble getting into modern western comics. Following along if you haven’t been doing this awhile can be at times a touch confusing.
Ken
Compared to mediums where you just. Watch or read the thing sequentially, lol.

It’s just really wild to me you could be reading an omnibus and they can leave out issues that literally didn’t matter.
Ken
And of course the fun trade off of Cates’ run being popular, “you’re going to be the focal point of two entire mega events, two years in a row” with Absolute Carnage and King in Black.
Ken
And like on both of those I’m just gonna pay mind to the Spidey or Venom related issues. (I’ve even read some in the past as they came out at times I was following other Spider books.) But it was really funny/terrifying to sit down and count and see KiB had a total of 64 separate issues, counting the main mini, Venom, and all tie ins.

I've definitely bailed on arcs before bc figuring out what other stuff I needed to read to get the full story was just
𝔞𝔢𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔫𝔞✶𝔞𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔱𝔢𝔰
not impossible but more effort than I really wanted to put in
Ken
It can really throw a wrench in your momentum even when you know how this goes
𝔞𝔢𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔫𝔞✶𝔞𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔱𝔢𝔰
exactly yeah
𝔞𝔢𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔫𝔞✶𝔞𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔱𝔢𝔰
I remember trying to keep up w spider-gwen and this was a problem constantly
Ken
That had almost back to back the crossover with Miles book and then Spider-Women, which spread across Gwen, Silk, and Spider-Woman as well as individual beginning and ending one shots

Which is one thing if you’re reading it as it comes out.

A whole ‘nother if you’re just trying to read it sequentially from scratch sometime after
Ken
And you could say “well there’s a graphic novel version of just that” but there’s multiple different ways someone could be reading to get to that point. It’s just enough to stop and squint and go. “Oh okay. Wait... huh?”
boop snoot riot
luckily you don't really need any of the extra issues for AC or KiB to get the story
Ken
Yeah, I’ve gathered that, it was just insane when I sat down and went

“I’m gonna count these and see what I get” lol
Ken
I used to be the one who would buy all those tie ins because I was young, dumb, and had nothing else to spend disposable income on
