[Tears of the Kingdom] Continuing to enjoy how many ways there are to solve a problem.
Rue
Problem: Encounter a Lynel in a snowy area. (There's no grass to set on fire for taking advantage of updrafts.)
Rue
Attempt 1:
+ Learn very fast that this thing can still one-shot me.
Rue
Attempt two:
+ Pinecones?? These are all around snowy areas for updraft reasons.
+ However,
+ With how aggressive the enemy is, it's hard to lay these out and take advantage of them.
Rue
Attempt three:
+ Alright it's time to Nuts & Bolts this jerk.
+ However,
+ It turns out that Lynels can destroy any Zonite tech with their roar.
Rue
Steadily realizing, oh, okay. Continuing to be a pure test of skill. Ok. Ok.
Rue
Various attempts:
+ (game over jingle)
Rue
Attempt ???:
+ Play it safe and considering... an Octorok Stomach?
Rue
(This works.)
Rue
(It's slow and clumsy, but slapping that funny intestinal balloon on your shield grants you a little uplift if you want to make use of that.)
Rue
Rue
What a good game.
Rue
I've been steadily picking away at it in the background, by which I mean: wandering the wilds and getting distracted by twenty different things on the way to my initial goal.
Rue
Perhaps this weekend I will finally attempt a story dungeon, lmao.
Rue
Every so often I look at all the mechanics present and go, god damn, what a colossal ordeal it must have been to QA this game.
Gray
It seems like it's kinda up there with Elden Ring in terms of...wow, this game isn't completely busted?
Gray
Elden Ring for the scale of the world, and this for the scale of what you can do. It's always amazing that video games get made at all, but sometimes, man.
Gray
And you can't test for everything people are gonna do with Nuts & Bolts powers.
Rue
Yeah!! Truly wild that this was able to be made at all.
Rue
Like, I know they're working off existing framework... but consider physics in other games. If you place a wheel of cheese wrong in Skyrim it's gonna vibrate for twenty seconds before rocketing into space.
Rue
I haven't seen a single thing do the 'oh no physics' wiggle.
Awootumn
I've seen the no physics wiggle, but it has to be forced to do the no physics wiggle in really particular and strange ways
Awootumn
like one of the speedrun style glitches is forcing a no physics wiggle so things laungh
Awootumn
launch*
Rue
Oh interesting! I'm still neck deep in the game, so I haven't dared look up any speedruns yet.
Awootumn
yeah, I'd very much avoid them
Awootumn
final dungeon/boss is big time spoilers land
Rue
Yeahh, that's what I figured. Thank you for the confirmation!
Rue
Man.
Rue
I went on an adventure today.
Awootumn
do tell
Rue
+ Reach fork before Hateno lab.
+ Theres a korok.
+ Slap the little guy to a sled and send em down the mountain.
+ See a bunch of shipwreck at the beach.
+ Hm.
Rue
+ Put together a raft and sail into the ocean.
+ Reach island.
+ NPC says there's three enemy forts.
+ Handle them.
+ NPC says there's pirates too.
+ HANDLE THEM
+ A shrine also happens.
Rue
(two hours later) "oh shit right the lab I wanted to go to"
Awootumn
XDD
