[Precure] Ugh, a few fans are up in arms about today’s episode

Today’s episode had a reimagining of The Story of Momotaro with Princess Elliee as the lead and, at one point, a banner appears with the symbols for “Japan No. 1”

I’m not sure of it, but apparently it’s imperialist propaganda that was used in WWII with that story? So, a few fans on Twitter are all “Ew, Toei, why?!”

yeah back in the day the story of momotaro was used as jp imperialist propaganda as the protag symbolized Japanese soldiers bringing the fight to a public enemy. honestly I understand where they are coming from since

yeah I dispise the side of Japan that thinks they did nothing wrong during wwii but that doesn't mean I agree with this in the context
