This goes on forEVer, but it explains my early love of Doug Kershaw.

I'm from upstate NY, but I grew up in KY where I was exposed to country music, so my tastes run from opera to some country. Mostly my family laughed at the country music shows, but we could recognized talent.

Like Dolly Parton. Dad loved her. He said she had ... "Perfect Pitch." And he'd gesture with his hands in a way that indicated something more like "big bosoms."

Doug Kershaw, in his early days, dressed in velvet Edwardian suits and was as big around as a pencil. He was apparently a violin bow abuser (in this video he has a bucket of bows). I hope I never learn he's a bad person. That always damps the enthusiasm.

He does a great impression of a train whistle. I used to do a pretty good one. Will have to practice when Bob's out of the house.
