anyway Aki is the firstborn daughter of an onmyouji family and her parents had her swallow a tengu egg as a baby. yes this doesn't make physical sense we're anime up in this house. the tengu is Kuro

so they grew up as a bodyshare but actually a very literal bodyshare, as in rather than just Kuro being housed in Aki's body their bodies merged together. so Aki was born female but Kuro is male so their body also developed male traits

the swallowing a tengu egg thing is not a custom, it's the first time the family ever tried something like this, so they did not actually know what would happen and also no longer actually knew whether Aki should be raised as a boy or a girl. luckily this is an onmyouji family where it's customary to sometimes raise boys as girls in early childhood ANYWAY

so Aki was raised as a girl until around eight because that was standard practice either way. and then at that point basically the family was like "well they're infertile either way but they do basically have a dick so I guess we can transition to raising Aki as a boy,"

but then in middle school they actually did get boobs. which. no one was sure if that would occur or not

middle school was also complicated for other reasons that I will save as a special surprise for later but in any case by highschool Aki moved to a different school without ties to her middle school and switched to being registered as a girl because it was easier.

Kuro's opinion is just that he is a dude so therefore Aki is also a dude. Aki's opinion is being cute or handsome is fun but it ultimately doesn't actually matter because she's unmarriageable either way anyway

definitely in her canon setting she's considered intimidatingly manly for a highschool girl since she is like ~5'7" and athletic and not curvy but in snek I doubt she will be viewed as masculine nearly as much if at all. the only thing people will actually trip over about ??? gender ??? is that Kuro will call her a dude and she will be like "yeah"

she keeps things under wraps in canon because it would be a public disturbance if she didn't but that's purely practicality and even then she'll still just tell her classmates she's infertile if it happens to come up.
