Cute Quinn
So, Dungeon Drafters
Cute Quinn
before talking about the game I need to talk about something very minor about it
Cute Quinn
the game works like the zelda + necrodancer collab, where you normally have carefully controlled movement in turn-based strategy battles
Cute Quinn
but when all enemies are defeated, you can just move freely
Cute Quinn
and the thing is, the 'move to adjacent space' animation was designed chiefly to be used one space at a time
Cute Quinn
and when you have the game speed up and just hold down a direction
Cute Quinn
it looks
Cute Quinn
delightfully unhinged
Cute Quinn
she's fucking GOING

MAKIN MY WAY DOWNTOWN
Cute Quinn
the game's pretty cool! I think it's gonna get a lot of flak for one specific really annoying enemy in the first dungeon

me when my shift ends
Doctor Ansem
Hmmmm.Taking a look when I have the chance.
Cute Quinn
it's an SRPG deckbuilder
Cute Quinn
each turn you get 3 AP, which can be used to move 1 space, attack for 1 damage, or play a card
Cute Quinn
then all enemies move, with forecasted attack AOEs
Doctor Ansem
My beef with random styled deckbuilders is that customizing your deck is extremely costly, so figuring out what works and what doesn't is an absolute pain
Doctor Ansem
I still have no idea how to pick cards optimally in One Step From Eden, for instance
Cute Quinn
it's only soft-roguelike - any booster packs you pick up you get to keep the cards permanently
Cute Quinn
and use them to build a 40-50 card deck that you can totally change around each run
Cute Quinn
notably, unlike similar deckbuilders, you aren't cycling whole hands each turn
Cute Quinn
you draw one card a turn, and only if your hand isn't full, but
Cute Quinn
there are specific rooms where you can reshuffle your graveyard
Cute Quinn
and outside those rooms, if you run out of cards
Cute Quinn
you're just out of cards
Cute Quinn
so playing a smaller deck has a tradeoff in being easier to card out
NekoInc, MSPM
... IT sounds to me a lot like what I liked most of Metal Gear Ac!d, so I'm Interested
Cute Quinn
I found it real frustrating at first because the starter deck for the character I picked sucked ass
Cute Quinn
but once you start swapping out the chaff for decent cards the game feel improves a lot
pixie lovemail
ohhhhh this sounds EXTREMELY up my alley
pixie lovemail
i'll check it out when i have a full day to lose to it
Cute Quinn
it'll very much scratch that optimization itch
Cute Quinn
the 'class' system is pretty unique, too
Cute Quinn
there are five colors of cards, and you have five slots for colored runes that you can trade out
Cute Quinn
to be like, 2 red, 2 blue, 1 green
Cute Quinn
and each card has a color and a rune level
Cute Quinn
that goes from 1 to 5
Cute Quinn
so if you have 2 red runes, then you can put rune level 1-2 red cards in your deck
Cute Quinn
so you have to trade off utility vs power
Don't 4get DL-6
