[anipoke] I briefly wondered if we're writing Bashou & Buson too angstily (I LOVE angst, don't get me wrong, it's my favourite), then, while reflecting on Musashi's backstory... never mind, that's just Rockets. They're angsty that way. -weeps about partnerships and teams-
They're fortunately mostly at peace with that now, they're too in-sync for them to truly doubt it. They fell into their old rhythym. .......... Buson just had to drop a bombshell on Bashou about the truth event and oh, yeah, this place can randomly alter your behaviour against your will.
(To truly doubt they're not from the same universe, I mean! ........ or if they aren't, they're assuming it's tiny, insignificant to their partnership differences, fff. Timey-wimey shenanigans remain.)
Yeah, I agree completely! It's also very telling that they can command each other's Pokemon, that doesn't normally happen without great trust--Pokemon mirror their trainers, after all, and they obey each other. It doesn't even have to be explained before hand, they just naturally trust them both and see them as one unit.
Yup, no honorifics! Most Rocket duos don't use any for each other, even though you can clearly see a more dominant/leading partner and a more submissive/following one in each team. ^^
It's interesting, for a lot of yakuza-inspired bad guys in anime, you'll have the more senior/mentorly one be called aniki/big brother, while the mentored in the otoutobun/younger brother role won't get any honorifics but will only address the former as aniki... but not so with the Rockets. : D
But yeah, their very casual dialogue with each other and how used to each other's quirks and yeah, no honorifics, really makes the English dub's "new partner" line really ill-fitting, they're both clearly set in their roles and comfortable with each other, totally in-sync!
Speaking of sworn brothers, that's what Buson took Manzana on as (... because he's teaching him to live as a decent human being + he reminded him a lot of Bashou and Buson needs guidance, okay), ffff.
