i dreamed i somehow managed to get myself stuck in a long line of people at some sort of facility where we'd (supposedly) be shot if we left the line, but i'd teamed up with two others and opened a gate we weren't supposed to and pushed out a cart and then saw a couple officers interrogating the person we were heading for so we turned back

later i managed to end up in this little rural village, but there was a kind, handsome, literate young man who was a wonderful writer and also murdered at least two villagers

this one girl managed to escape him and write obscure clues to potentially lead other people to solve the crime, but the police who showed up were the tiny napoleon guy from resident evil 4 and two very tall, very dumb lackeys

the murderer hid himself in a bathroom while they investigated but they ended up talking to the girl, who gave them this long impassioned speech about helping people, so the officer was like "you seem like not a murderer"

after they left she bolted the door and started planning, and then there was a timeskip to her being carried out piggyback by another guy while she was dressed in a cute red dress that showed her shoulders (she was fully covered in peasant garb before)

then later she ended up in a magic fight against the killer? and called for help and anders reluctantly dragged himself out of the crowd, immediately took control of the guy's magic flying word dragons, and won the battle just like that
