hero factory to me is like that friend of a friend thing. Where you never really talk outside of social events where your friend invited both of you, you get along fine, but that's it.
remembered that scene in the Toa Empire where Takanuva shoved his own mask on Takua's face and... what if it had worked? Would he just not have his own mask? lol
also, doesn't this sound very intrusive, too? A random guy shoving their own masks over yours. the fact that at the time, as far as Takua knew, Takanuva was some crazy guy too...
idk, but the Matoran talks about how he thinks Matoro is cool, and now I'm thinking about Mata-Nui Ehrye wanting to be a hunter-gatherer like Matoro in the same way he wanted to be a scholar. But his brashness still gets on his way, but now by making him get lost easily (and Matoro always helping him get back)
Looking a bit closer at Krakua's MOC... You know the lore about Matoran who become Toa become what they believe a Toa looks like? Krakua actually looks like that about Helryx... what is cute...
I wonder what his training for the OOMN was like. where did he stay, and who trained him? Greg says he became a Toa during the Inika-to-Mahri Arc, so he was a matoran for most of it... Did he train with Mazeka, did he still do things for the OOMN?
I'm re-reading Brothers in arms, and Jebraz enters Mazeka's hut by knocking then sneaking past him and like... if the dude is 8 ft how did he pass Mazeka, does mazeka have a plus sized hut door??
continuing my Krakua thoughts, I assume it was pretty weird to just be kidnapped whisked away from his village, be told you're going to be a Toa, then placed into intense training. I'm pretty sure most of his interactions are only with OOMN too, so probably pretty isolated (though, he already was pretty isolated.)
Anyway, I was talking about the random name shipping meme, I actually made one in chartopia, so get your rarepairs here. I'll add more characters... Random Bionicle Pair-Ups - Chartopia
I thought I would end up getting really odd ones but... most of them aren't that weird, at least there is something to work with. Like, Nuju/Vakama... They don't have anything going on but... are from the same team... Hahli/Takanuva is already a ship. Gaaki/Gali... actually kind of interesting tbh, would read it.
Takadox/Vezok, is a little harder to see but, huh, you could make a fic of Vezok working as a thief for Takadox for a bit during the Six Kingdoms days.
Ehrye/Krakua, During when the habitants are trying to hide from Teridax/Escape to the outside, Krakua ends up having to escort Ehrye and other matoran, and Ehrye just wears his ears out with questions... (Not all of these need to be shippy btw)
I got another OOMN and Piraka, and now I'm thinking, does the OOMN have a Skakdi member/servant? Considering Skakdi's it could be difficult, but imagine a Skakdi that happens to have some pretty useful powers + a good head on their shoulders...
Tahu/Nuhrii, hmm, guard Nuhrii finding Tahu in the Ta-wahi forest and them making their back to Ta-Koro together (Maybe Nuhrii now has insecurities about not being as tough as Jaller... Tahu is bad with insecurities.)
I know the favorite interpretation of Gavla is that she finds herself more in shadow as her actual true identity, and I like this too. But I'm pretty fond of the interpretation where her shadow self was more of a bad coping mechanism. She is lonely and friendless, and shadow makes her feel useful without actually solving her issue.
As if her shadow self can be interpreted as a not-true self to hide behind so she can not deal with the actual issue, in the same way in canon shadow matoran are sort of brainwashed to obey the makuta, etc. not sure if I'm making sense, it just hits a more personal to me thing.
Though I do like Shadow is not inherently evil, Light is not inherently good, but I would interpret it as, you know. A being that wasn't originally light, being forced to be light and its shadow taken away would be just as fucked up as a being who wasn't originally shadow having shadow forced upon them.
But then again, I feel the fanon got really attached to elements being something like self-identity, while I admit I read it as a culture/race/personality(?) thing? It has been very fun reading fics around element=identity thought, especially Matoran build as one element connecting more with another element as a gender allegory.
I wish that I would see more people in the fandom recognize that Krakua wasn't a Toa until around the Mahri Arc. What were five years after he was taken by OOMN. Until then he was still a Matoran under training.
Mostly because it's interesting to think how he was training for an Element he still didn't wield. I assume maybe he was taught how his element work, plus mental discipline training.
The only thing I want to draw of them is memey stuff, but that's only because if I only show my ironic memey stuff and not my character growth head-fanfic maybe people will judge me less harshly.
So, outside of Ahkmou, the ones we know use "Toa Mata" masks...Nuhrii with Kaukau, Tehutti with Kakama, Orkahm with Akaku... So stands to right (not really) to give them either Hau, Pakari, or Miru....
I was going to give Vhisola a Hau, but I started to headcanon that she works in the boats with Marka, as her apprentice, so I would go with the Pakari for her. When not with Marka, she is helping Nixie. More than one fic out there makes her adventurous so to impress Nokama, I would stick with that.
Can't see Ehrye with a Hau, so it leaves him with the Miru. Being more outgoing than most Ko-Matoran, he is often left as Ko-koro's guide to other Matoran. Outside of that, he is a general helper, or shop clerk in stands in other Koro's. He is a big Matoro fan.
Another GDM headcanon of mine is that they took on their old masks when they went back to Metru Nui and got their memories back... idk, just think it would be cute.
keep thinking of mixing Nokama’s general mourning for her old life with her missing Vhisola and imagining scenarios where she had gone for it sooner instead of only focusing on her work.........
then reconciling that maybe it would have never worked even then because of what she found out about Vhisola... but still kind of wanting it to have been better.....
My favorite f/f ships tend to be around like this tbh, I wonder if people would judge me for it afafdjdhagg listen, doomed/difficult f/f kind of speaks to me, ok
Really sudden but I think I have a good description for my Helryx/Tuyet crackpair. AU where Helryx finds a way to better control Tuyets powers and is able to get her into the order. And Tuyet turns into the Violent guard dog on a leash trope for Helryx.
maybe it's just me, but I just can't see where people see any of the Toa of Water as "motherly" or "the mother of the group." Not even Gali, and especially not Nokama.
Onewa himself said that Nokama could be pretty aloof to other's feelings, and even with Vakama, she comes of more like a teacher seeing potential in a student without considering the student's feelings about it. You could also see it with Vhisola, with Nokama not noticing Vhisola growing bitter or brushing it off.
I guess with Gali, you could build a case, but it still doesn't feel right tbh. She does care about her team, but in a way more equal footing. At no point does she fuzz over them like she has the responsibility to take care of them. The reason she tries so hard to make Tahu and Kopaka not fight feels more like it's for her and unity than it being for them?
Hahli is also where I see it the least. she also doesn't fuzz over the team, mostly following quietly around in Voya Nui (very chronicler like), then taking action in her own way in Mahri Nui.
and.... idk.... I guess it was just a common trope for fem characters around the time Bionicle G1 came out, but it's annoying because they clearly aren't that in Canon, but then are reduced to it in some fanon.

Random M/f and M/M ships: hmmm, idk idk.
Every Random F/F ship: Yeah, I can see it!
