BUT YEAH eventually he turned on Rezo ....... then found out Rezo was actually possessed by like, literally Satan (not literally but close enough) killed the big bad demon lord and got to spend the next few chapters of his life pondering whether the guy who ruined his life was actually his great-grandfather, or if it had all been the demon inside of him
so after all that, he finally starts living his own life, but he does it as a lonely wanderer, searching the world for a cure for his chimera condition
so when he betrays Rezo and takes off with his captive, his old gang buddies are the ones to track him down and try to kill him and the first one was Noonsa, the fishman
and zel just fucking murders him roasts him with a fireball and leaves his body floating in a lake and then the other beastmen find him, weep for their fallen comrade, and then eat him, because he is a delicious roasted fish
he slices dilgear with his sword and dilgear's like "HEHEHE you forgot that I'm half troll!!" and he regenerates his wound immediately and zelgadis is like "oh I did forget that"
at the same time, demons in Slayers tend to lie only by omission and not directly, and also follow contracts faithfully, so at least he was still willing to talk to them to try to pry info from them
rose thought that destroying the world sounded like a dumb idea and didn't make sense and zel's like why do i have to explain the appeal of destroying the world to a demon??? it's a thing that demons just inherently want to do????
and bloody mary thought the drinking party was lame and he's like ????? because shit-talking a thing your boss likes is basically treason in demon culture
but he also spent the entire game side-eyeing mephisto who like, never directly identified himself as a demon to zel but sure hit a lot of demon checkboxes
it is amazing that zel got a ship because he really did not think anyone could be attracted to him. and just did not believe what was happening no matter how heavily tuuri was hinting at him
he started crushing on her on w2...... she was sweet and idealistic and he was a regular downer, but then she had a really bad week. cyoa, people in her curfews dying, lavi got voted and executed and while she was going through it, zel realized it was really important to him for her to not be sad...
he volunteered to spend curfews with her because he's the durable rock guy and least likely to die, so she wouldn't have to be sad about curfew buddies dying anymore!
i think zel managed to pass as normal in public but he was kind of a wreck at curfew (which fortunately tuuri asked him to meet her and he did, not knowing why. or why the door was locked. where was brewster.)
also i want you to know like-- well, gestures at ryn, he is blue and pointy, ofc he was drawn to zel at first bc he was literally the closest to another elf here
