Russia will rattle that saber because it's the only one they have left.

Every other arm of their military was proven to be a joke by the Ukrainians before they got handed better tech...the only card Putin has left is to make nuclear rumblings.

It's all show with Russia. Back in the day, they'd literally drive their missiles around the block at the May Day parade, slap higher numbers on them, and run them around again to make it look like they had more.

That's when they actually could conceivably launch a nuclear strike.

There's nothing to be afraid of. We're not even sure Russia could launch it's missiles without falling over at this point, and in any event it's nuclear architecture is as aged as the rest of its military.

They have no guaranteed ability to pull it off before NATO made hash out of them.

It's ex-Soviet mentality - all show, no substance. But if you time it right, you can carve advantage out of it.

It always seems big and scary and new, but it always turns out to be routine things with limited scope and, frankly, ability.

Like his whole "put missiles in Belarus" thing. He announced that a year ago, he just rehashed it and added a theoretical timeline.
