Yeah! In Gmail you can set up filters and automatically apply color coded labels to your tags.

i route all my emails into thunderbird, because when my high school taught us about email ages ago it was via a program so using it through a browser feels wrong to me, when i was a tagging person i'd open the tag emails and then open the threads in browser tabs.

I used to use Gmail but switched to the dreamwidth inbox when I learned multi session extentions were a thing. Hard to use the email account when you're logged into all your active characters at once
