likeness is a lot about proportions or caricature, so if you want more likeness, maybe try visually measuring proportions between the most significant features, at least (eyes, brows, nose, mouth, chin, width and height of head), or pick a notable feature of his and exaggerate it? You could even try drawing with a grid for practice
