I don't know if you have already tried this, but I know a friend of mine was in a similar situation (with kids but still similar) and she said United Way helped. I believe 211 is their direct help line.

There are a few programs that aid with rent assistance but they need an issuance of eviction before they can step in. Not sure you want to take it that far, but that is usually a governmental out reach program.

i'm trying not to stress myself into stomach problems and actually get some sleep eventually, but thank you both so much, and i will make sure to pass that along to my sister so that all the options are on the table
