So I've just been given the news that at the end of March we'll be adding one more to the family and fostering a 15/16 year old teenage boy.

Until then life is still in a limbo of sorts.

While I don't like feeling like I'm 'that' kind of person, the money we will get from fostering him and the help with letters and such will be amazing help in getting a new house.

But....

We can't go looking for a new place until he is living here.

And our house is tiny...

So for at least a few months life is going to be uncomfortably crampt with four of us all living together. And awkward because this poor kid is being forced to live with relative strangers. And he's a complete stranger to me.

His room is so small, just enough for a bed and some drawers. And our freezer, because there's nowhere else for it.

Things are all just...crazy right now.

I'm afraid of wasting my money, making commitments with money even though I need a new phone and laptop. Because if we have to move then it's gonna cost.

I mean I'm not on my ass or struggling or anything! I just mean... With deposits and moving costs and stuff, every penny counts. (He's gonna need a whole new bedroom, gonna need a sofa bed, new sofa/chairs...just need everything for one extra). But once we're all settled and things then I hope I can start being a little selfish and get the things I want.

Having a new member of the family is gonna be so weird though.

I wish I knew more about him.

I really wish I'd actually written out that survey to send him lol!

Will you pet my cat? He loves treats!
Etc lol

Is ther a reason your family chose to do this now?

The Foster thing is happening at the end of March because that's when the kids social worker will have the paperwork finalised. It's happened so quick because his step-brother has to leave the country really soon, and the kid doesn't wanna go with him.

And because my dad promised the kids dad he'd take care of him, we need to do this so he doesn't end up in the system.

The time frame is completely out of our hands, unfortunately.

Which is why we're all in limbo and can't actually get our ducks in a row until we know wth is going on with everything else.

Ah. Gotcha. So at least someone in the family knows his brother, if nothing else?

mmhm yeah, my dad. He's the go-between here. He knew the dad, the step-brother and this kid. My mum knows them too, though not as close. The kid used to be friends with my nephew until my nephew scared him off back when he was a little monster.

So there are a few connections with my family.
