all i can think about is what proportion of classical art is fanart. the person who posted this is a shithead and probably is just mad people like anime
and honestly, the point about religious art is very true. just looking at how ideas have spread throughout regions can be interpreted as fanwork, in a sense. regional variations is pretty much the same creative process
