[Grocery Delivery Adventures] Customer wanted roast chicken at Sams Club but they were all gone so I offered to wait until a new batch was ready. LMAO the way the people descended upon the rack the moment those things were brought out.
Yeah. I don't go to Sam's much anymore because I'm usually shopping just for myself and buying in bulk for certain items just doesn't make sense. But I get the one from the grocery store, and yup. I can get almost four meals out of one depending on how hungry I am. Cut it in quarters. Reheat the other pieces for later meals.
and this person was already tipping me $25 for an 11 mile drive so I was a little more willing to wait with the crowd around the chicken station and snatch one for them.
yeah... grocery stores often operate with extremely thin profit margins just to get customers in the door... also, places like Sam's can negotiate their orders in such a way with bulk purchasing and their buying power as a massive chain to get their purchase cost down so they can pass that to consumers
They also have a lot of loss just due to things like expiration dates and produce and other fresh goods going bad before it's bought... stuff like that.
egg chickens and meat chickens are raised separately. basically the egg chicken farms were affected by the bird flu but it hasn't been as much of a problem for ones raised for meat as much
I'm taking the day off
