so I work for a company that monitors compliance with DOT regulations, mostly in regards to checking if companies are keeping up with their required drug testing

Which means, of course, that the companies we are hired to monitor have to report their drug testing numbers to us every quarter to check

quarter 4 2022 ended, naturally, on December 31st. we give everybody 30 days to get all their data in.

so yesterday was the deadline

Which means that today is the day after the deadline, aka the day where we tell people that they fucked up by not submitting and more importantly, tell the people they work for who hired us to monitor that they haven't submitted

Which means today is the day we get a ton of phone calls from people all worked up because they have a bad rating and they're getting taken off of jobs

All their shit is on fire and it is both my fault and my problem to solve for them

got somebody who was like, I've been trying to finish this submission for two days, and it's like, one, you had an entire month, two, you only emailed us about your issue at 4:30 yesterday, and three, your issue was actually the system working as intended, you just saw a red highlight and panicked

oh good lord
