Also, this is how I got my first Star Wars soundtrack. I was so excited because I had seen the LP and knew it came with a stupendous poster that I could mount on my childhood bedroom wall.

My parents ordered it from Columbia House and I endured what seemed like months of waiting for its arrival.

Imagine the letdown when I received the 8-track version.

No poster.

And "Cantina Band" was cut in half.

I joined Columbia House's laserdisc club. I ordered the letterboxed version of 2001:A Space Odyssey. They sent me the pan-and-scan version.

I did the record club myself 4 or 5 times. in those days you just moved (a frequent occurence in my circles) and signed up again at the new address!

It was a really good deal if you fulfilled your obligation and quit. As soon as you quit they'd beg you to return by offering another incredible deal. Rinse and repeat.

And I'm equally sure that it sounded just like the Enya album that preceded it lol

Gingo! I recognize about half of them. And that site is a really weak effort. They aren't even being consistent with the imagery

They're owned by a company called Edge Line Ventures, LLC, who operate out of Pennsylvania (which is suspicious enough). They bought the rights to the service from another company called Filmed Entertainment, Inc., which filed for bankruptcy in 2015, and divested themselves of their assets in 2017

They sure do have an impressive corporate headquarters!
