But if Drunk Bradley thinks hard enough, it makes a lot of sense. How many people love Bradley Bradshaw at this current moment in time, platonic or romantic? None (Natasha would argue against that, but Bradley doesn’t even try to believe it anymore). And the big question, how many people have loved Bradley Bradshaw?
There’s a lot, actually. His dad and his mom, Mav would remind him constantly how much he was loved while growing up. There was even Iceman, who was around a lot. But most important of all; there was Jake Seresin.
It’s funny, because none of those people are in his life anymore. His parents are dead, Mav shut him out, which by association meant no more Iceman, and he broke it off with Jake almost seven months ago.
Bradley has no one in his life anymore, but that’s okay. He’s striving to be the best pilot the navy has ever seen, and he hopes that will prove Maverick wrong. It’ll show he is good enough and he is able to do this, he’s ready. He isn’t just his dad’s legacy. He isn’t just the shadow of a Bradshaw who once was, he’s his own person - always has been.
In hopes of breaking the curse, Bradley has shut everyone out. He’s hoping it will feel better if he’s the one to walk out on them, rather than the other way around. (It doesn’t.) So with no friends, not even any acquaintances, Bradley just gets drunk on his own now.
